A Showcase of Resources for Enrichment & Inclusion

ABILITIES FIRST: A Showcase of Resources for Enrichment & Inclusion will bring together resources and unique services or products that meet the everyday needs and interests of families, individuals or caregivers for those with any disability whether it be developmental, intellectual, physical, mental or other as well.

Other activities include performances, demonstrations, sensory-friendly movies, meet-and-greets, and other special events.

Admission to the showcase is free and open to the public. Easily accessible, with plenty of handicap parking available.

All proceeds from the 2019 Showcase will support the mission of Abilities First.

9:15 AM KIDS YOGA (Ages 4-12) with Rona Mannain, Abilities First School Art & Yoga Instructor, at Center Court
9:30 AM - 10 AM SENSORY-SENSITIVE EARLY OPENING: Morning activities for children with special needs and their families in a sensory-sensitive environment
10 AM - 3 PM SHOWCASE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: Performances, demonstrations, and other special events to be announced.
10 AM SENSORY FRIENDLY FILMS: Get the movie theatre experience, but with lower sound and brighter lights courtesy of Regal’s My Way Matinee Program. “How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World” (PG) and “Captain Marvel” (PG-13) Tickets are $6.50 per person at the Regal Galleria Mall Stadium 16.

My Abilities Are Super 2019 Cover Kid Search

Hudson Valley Parent is looking for great kids, ages 2-16 years old, to appear on their magazine covers in 2019-2020. Pre-register on the Hudson Valley Website to reserve your time slot between 11:30 AM to 2 PM, once confirmed, visit the Hudson Valley Parent booth in the hallway next to DSW (towards Regal) on March 9, 2019, to get your photos taken.  Each registered child receives a professional photo session with cover kid photographer, Mike Bloom. Space is limited to the first 25 children so register early to reserve your spot.

On March 13, photos will be posted on hvparent.com and voting will be open until March 22. Friends and family will vote on the top 5 winners to be featured in a photo spread and HV Parent’s panel of judges will choose one winner.  For additional details, visit the HV Parent website.




Join Abilities First School Art and Yoga Instructor, Rona Mannain, for a 30 min. yoga class for kids ages 4 – 12. Kids of ALL abilities are encouraged to join. Rona incorporates mindfulness, breathing exercises, and classic yoga positions with sensory integration. A family member or friend can join the class to assist the child if needed. Class limited to 20. Please bring your own mat.



This is a community event to support and celebrate the interests, needs, and abilities of individuals. With the Spirit of Inclusion in mind, we encourage you, along with your friends, family, and agency to join the 2019 Flash Mob. Stay tuned for the music and dance moves!

Simply be there on March 9th at 12:30 p.m. at the Center Court of the Poughkeepsie Galleria when the music starts and JOIN IN! Dance moves can be adapted to a seated position by learning the arm motions. Feel free to wear your agency’s shirts and share in this celebration of abilities!
