New AF Preschool Offers New Community Opportunities

On May 20, 2021, the Abilities First team of staff, board of directors, students, and family members, joined the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and other supporters to celebrate the grand opening of Abilities First’s newest school in New Windsor, NY. Developed for children aged 3 to 5 years old, the preschool supports students from over 21 districts in the region.

Melissa McCoy, Abilities First Chief Advancement Officer, AFI & FAFNY addressed the crowd with accolades to the team and gratitude toward all who were involved in making this new location possible.

She also read written remarks by parent Janea Hill, whose daughter, Jelani, is supported through Abilities First.

“The Abilities First Preschool is important to me and my child, Jelani, because it has provided her with the opportunity to grow academically, emotionally, and socially. It provides her with the tools that she needs to be a happy child who is able to learn in an environment that is conducive to her needs. I can’t thank the entire staff enough for what they have done for/with Jelani,” Janea wrote. “Abilities First provides me with a sense of relief, support, guidance, and feeling of extended family!”

AF CEO and President Jeffrey Fox and AF Board of Directors Vice-Chairman Gary Cassiello, a partner with Judelson, Giordiano & Siegel, CPA, P.C., also addressed the guests to share their thoughts about all that Abilities First does for its students and families.

Many officials attended the event to recognize this AF milestone, including NYS Sen. Sue Serino, NYS Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, and Orange County Deputy Clerk Kelly Eskew. Representatives from the offices of NYS Sen. James Skoufis, NYS Sen. Mike Martucci, and US Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney were also in attendance.

We’d like to share a special thanks to Orange County Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Heather Bell-Meyer, who introduced elected officials and led the cutting of the ribbon.
