Abilities First Announces 2016 Golf Classic Winners

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (June 10, 2016) – The 2016 Abilities First Golf Classic was held June 2, 2016 at The Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y. Over 140 people attended this fundraising event for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the Mid-Hudson Valley and helped to raise approximately $47,000 in support of the Abilities First mission.

Also, in attendance were participants of Abilities First day programs who joined for a special Lunch ‘N Putt event at the Golf Classic. The Abilities First participants volunteered their time throughout the week in preparation for the golf tournament and were on hand at the event to greet golfers. The Golf Classic provided them an opportunity to meet members of the community and even practice on the putting green as the golfers headed out for the tournament.

“Abilities First wishes to thank the 2016 Golf Classic Committee, volunteers, staff and participants for making this a premiere golf event. We especially want to recognize our major, tee sign and in-kind sponsors for their support in enriching the lives of children and adults in our communities,” said Melissa McCoy, Abilities First Chief Advancement Officer.

The 2016 Golf Classic Committee was led by Manny Dizon & Brandi Rider. The event’s major sponsors included Henry Page Jr. Development, Rose & Kiernan, Inc. and Marvin and Company, P.C. CPAs, MVP Health Care, First Student, IZA Solutions, Merrill Lynch The Irwin Burlingame Group, Foresters Financial, and McCabe & Mack, LLP.
