Prizes awarded for Women’s Team, Men’s Team & Mixed Teams, along with Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin & Hole-in-One challenges.

NEW ADDITION THIS YEAR: We’re making our golf classic even better this year by adding in a spirited tennis competition as well.

Join us July 26th at the Powelton Club for the inaugural tennis event to benefit Abilities First. Tennis players can sign up individually or with a partner for the round-robin doubles format tournament. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Enjoy a relaxing and meaningful day on the courts.

We are looking ahead to a great day of golf and tennis at one of the country’s oldest private clubs and to reconnecting with community and business leaders while making a lasting impact to the Abilities First mission. From the moment you arrive, golfers, tennis players, and sponsors will experience an outing that is clearly a one-of-a-kind experience. Enjoy an array of course specialties including food and beverage samplings, cigars, silent auction and more.  Your day includes a buffet breakfast, courtside snacks, lunch and cocktail awards reception.

All proceeds from the 2021 Golf  & Tennis Classic will benefit the services and programs of Abilities First and the Foundation for Abilities First NY.

The Powelton Club Golf Course

The Powelton Club golf course is presently 6,193 yards in length with a rating of 71.4 and has a slope of 134. Designed by Devereux Emmet in 1923, the Club’s golf course is walkable, and each hole presents a challenge to your game in a different way.  The short par fours offer strategic options that invite birdies but often penalize with bogies. The greens offer a variety of challenges to players. Some are at ground level and flanked by flat bunkers, while other holes are elevated and fiercely guarded by large, deep hazards. The terrain can be severe and water is a factor on 11 out of the 18 holes. A stream crossing the property feeds into four ponds, including the picturesque Par 3 seventh hole. The existing design is known to be both challenging and memorable. It is accentuated by wonderfully quick greens and tight fairways with deep rough and troublesome pin placements.
